Discover Lincolnshire
Entry
to many Lincolnshire’s attractions and activities was free during Discover Lincolnshire Weekend on 12th and 13th of March.
We
decided to visit the area on Sunday. We had a nice time and nice early spring
weather.
We
travelled to Lincoln first.
There
is the huge and beautiful Lincoln Cathedral dating back to 11th century. It is a must see
building inside and out.
Lincoln Castle is smaller as the cathedral but with a rich cultural heritage. This castle is a home of the 1215 Magna
Charta.
We
had a nice walk in the city centre. It was a good exercise too, because
historical buildings are on a really high hill.
Lincoln’s open top sightseeing bus and Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum’s vintage bus operated
free during the weekend but we used rather our car to press as many visits as
possible to our day.
Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum was our last stop in Lincoln. It is a small museum, but
they have beautifully refurbished buses and vintage cars.
After
learning some news about road transport we visited Cranwell Aviation Heritage Centre to acquire some knowledge about airplanes.
We
drove half hour to see Cogglesford Watermill milling and had a short nice walk
on the countryside.
Our
last stop was by a beautiful and still working Heckington Windmill. We were allowed
to visit all four floors.
